T20 World Cup, Afghanistan reached the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh

In the important match of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs under the Duckworth-Louis system and thus the Afghan team reached the semi-finals of any World Cup for the first time.

The Afghan team will now face South Africa in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan had given Bangladesh a target of 116 runs to win. Bangladesh had to reach the target in 12.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals, but in a rain-affected match, the Bangladesh team was bowled out for 105 runs in 17.5 overs.

In the 52nd match of T20 World Cup, Group One teams Afghanistan and Bangladesh were competing in Kingstown where Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat.

Afghanistan scored 115 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs, Rehmanullah Garbaz was the most prominent by scoring 43 runs.

Captain Rashid Khan scored 19 runs, Ibrahim Zadran scored 18 runs and Azmatullah Omar Zai scored 10 runs.

For Bangladesh, Rashad Hussain took 3 wickets, Mustafizur Rehman and Tasin Ahmed took one wicket each.

Later, the second phase of the match was thrilling even though the target was less and both the teams kept trying to win till the end, during the pursuit of the target, the match had to be stopped several times due to rain, but luck seemed to be with the Afghan team.

In the last, when the match had to be stopped due to rain, at that time Bangladesh needed 9 runs for one wicket from 8 balls to win, Naveen ul Haq took the last wicket of Bangladesh and took the team to the semi-finals.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh’s Latin Das remained unbeaten on 54 runs. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan scored four runs for 23 runs while Naveen Haque scored four runs for 26 runs.

Earlier, in the important match of Group One, India defeated Australia by 24 runs and made it to the semi-finals.
